Responsibilities Remain Intact

Responsibilities carried through names do not lapse, diminish, or reset with the passing of an individual. When a name is transferred, the full scope of responsibilities associated with that name remains intact and continues to bind the new holder.

These responsibilities arise from prior actions, agreements, relationships to territory, and obligations established through Adaawk and witnessing. They are cumulative and enduring, ensuring that duties undertaken in earlier generations are not abandoned through succession.

The continuity of responsibility prevents avoidance of obligation through time or transfer. A name holder does not select which responsibilities to carry; all obligations attached to the name are assumed together. Authority without responsibility is therefore impossible within Ayaawk.

By keeping responsibilities intact, Ayaawk preserves balance and accountability across generations. Law remains continuous because duties are carried forward in full, ensuring that obligations to people, lands, waters, and relationships are neither erased nor diluted.
