Resolution prioritizes restoration of balance.
In Tsm’syen law, resolution is measured by the restoration of balance, not by victory or punishment. A matter is resolved when relationships, responsibilities, and lawful order are restored.
Restoration of balance considers:
- the nature and extent of harm,
- the relationships affected,
- responsibilities of individuals, houses, clans, and the Nation,
- the condition of the land and resources involved.
Resolution may require:
- acknowledgment of harm,
- repair, remediation, or compensation,
- changes in conduct,
- witnessed processes guided by ayaawx.
Outcomes that ignore balance leave matters unresolved. Lasting resolution strengthens relationships and reinforces law.
Balance is the measure of resolution.
