Land use must align with ayaawx.

All use of laxyuup is governed by ayaawx. Use that disregards ayaawx is unlawful, regardless of permission, power, or external authorization.

Ayaawx governs:

• acceptable forms of use,
• timing, manner, and limits of access,
• responsibilities owed to other houses and the Nation,
• protection of land, waters, and resources.

Land use carries obligations. Those who use laxyuup must:

• act with care and restraint,
• avoid harm and imbalance,
• respect existing rights and responsibilities,
• and respond to consequences of their conduct.

Use without responsibility undermines law. Repeated or serious misuse may result in loss of standing or restriction of access.
