General Principle

Elders may provide guidance to the Assembly.

Meaning

Elders assist by clarifying how ayaawx applies. Their words help connect present issues to established law.

Function

Guidance supports continuity and restraint. It strengthens understanding without transferring authority.

Scope

Elders may:

  • recall precedent,
  • explain context,
  • advise on consequences,
  • and remind participants of lawful limits.

Limits

Elders do not replace house authority. Elders do not create new law.

Consequence

Respectful attention to guidance strengthens legitimacy. Ignoring lawful guidance may weaken decisions.
