Elders may assist in interpreting law and precedent.

Interpretation draws on memory, adaawx, and lived experience. Elders clarify meaning where law is questioned or uncertain. Interpretation supports understanding; it does not replace responsibility. Elders do not create new law through interpretation. Interpretive authority depends on trust, restraint, and accountability. Interpretation considers history, relationship, and consequence.
