Using a crest to justify exploitation means invoking inherited authority, symbols, or titles to legitimize harm, extraction, or unequal benefit.

Under Ayaawx, exploitation occurs when a crest is used to:

* Take land, resources, labour, or benefits without reciprocal responsibility.
* Claim entitlement without fulfilling duties of care, protection, and restraint.
* Convert collective authority into personal or external gain.
* Shield harmful actions from accountability by invoking status or lineage.

A crest does not grant permission to exploit.

Crests bind the holder to:

* Protection of land, waters, and beings.
* Fair use and lawful access.
* Accountability to House, clan, and witnesses.
* Service to future generations.

When exploitation is justified through a crest, the violation is twofold:

* Harm is done to people, land, or community.
* The crest itself is dishonoured, weakening its authority.

Ayaawx principle:
